Student Ministry Blog
Dr Chap and Dee Clark identify 5 broad tasks of parenting. They are: understanding, showing compassion, boundarying, charting/guiding, and launching into adulthood.
On understanding, they write, “Understanding does not mean condoning, supporting, or encouraging your child’s behavior, attitude, or even general life slump. To understand, as the most foundational of all parenting roles, is to make sure that your child knows that you are absolutely, unequivocally committed to working hard at taking seriously the reality of your child’s life.”
