Student Ministry Blog
ONE. One generation. One passion. One movement.
Cityfest 2010 kicks off Sunday night, August 29, at The Church at Rock Creek’s student ministry building where students in grades 7-12 will unite for a night or worship and prayer for their schools and community. It’s pre-event rally for the ONE Festival from 6:00-7:30 PM. I, and several other youth leaders from around the city, will share our vision for the ONE Festival. Our passion is for students from all church backgrounds to desire for their friends to know Christ. Meet at LRC at 5:30 PM. We should return by 8 PM.
The ONE Festival is an all-day event at War Memorial Stadium on Saturday, October 2 just for teens. The festival includes 3-on-3 basketball and dodge ball tournaments, a battle of the bands competition, an evening concert featuring Christian artists Red, Family Force 5, and Flame, and a Compassion Village.
The Compassion Village is a designated area in the AT&T Parking lot at the stadium where several helping agencies will gather to share with people who they are, what they do and how this generation of students can impact their city. Agencies that will be there include Heifer International, The CALL, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Compassion International, Habitat for Humanity, Safe Places, Crisis Pregnancy Center of Central Arkansas, Little Rock School District, Salvation Army, Goodwill, Recycle Bikes for Kids and more.
Leading up to the festival, we will collect items such as bicycles, building supplies, food, and clothing to distribute to these agencies at the festival showing them our support for what they do. More details will be available soon.
Please be in prayer for this. Our hope is that the ONE Festival is not simply an event. We pray the Lord will move in the hearts of students to make a difference and reach their friends who don’t know Christ. We want to come together as one body and show Little Rock the love of Christ.
