The past 17 hours have been filled with nervousness, anticipation, disappointment, surprise, frustration, anger, joy, satisfaction, and love. As I go to bed it’s hard to describe for you what  today has been like. You had to be there. I was changed today. I was changed by 13 teens who worked alongside 22 others. I was changed by their work ethic, joy, enthusiasm and Christ-like spirit. I was changed by our adult’s leadership, attitudes and compassion toward others around them.  I was touched by Carl’s joy as he said that he had never felt so welcomed by a church before. I pray he will walk through our doors one day soon. I plan to visit him next week.

I heard stories from residents tonight as nearly 200 people gathered for food, music and getting to know one another. Five families who we serve every two weeks were there. They were thankful and I was blessed to spend time talking to them. Deborah, a woman for Alexander, brought 10 people with her. She had the biggest smile on her face as we talked. Made my day!

Mrs. Cooley cried as she exclaimed, “No one has ever knocked on my door asking if they could do something for me… until today.”

We were part of something special today. We made a difference in the name of the Lord. Praise be to God!

I’m tired!
