LRC Kids
Welcome to LRC Kids Ministry – a ministry for children in grades kindergarten through 6 and their parents.

Our vision is to partner with parents as God calls children to believe in Jesus and follow him.
Our mission is to equip families and the faith community to:
- Embrace children as full participants in the LRC church body
- Teach children God’s word
- Equip, encourage and support parents
Below is a description of the different components of LRC Kids ministry.
Sunday Morning Bible Classes
What to expect
Classes are conducted in the gym of the Nichols Building. They include large group worship and teaching and small group interaction led by adult teachers. Each week children will begin in small groups for 5-10 minutes. This provides children with a place to go and connect with other children their age and an adult. At 9:10, children in grades K-6 gather for large group worship and teaching — using drama, music and Bible stories. Children then return to their small group to further explore the day’s lesson. Small groups are divided according to the following grades:
- Kindergarten
- 1/2nd grade
- 3/4th grade
- 5/6th grade
Our Curriculum
We want every child to discover three truths as modeled by Jesus in Luke 2:52:
- I need to make the wise choice.
- I can trust God no matter what.
- I should treat others as I want to be treated.
LRC uses 252 Basics curriculum for children in grades K-6. This is an excellent family-based curriculum. You can learn more about this curriculum by clicking HERE. Using the Bible, students explore virtues that help them learn the three goals mentioned above. Our desire is to present God’s word to children in a way that helps them become more like Jesus.
Bringing it home
Our desire is to partner with parents providing ways to reinforce in the home what children are discovering in class. We recognize that parents have the greatest influence on the life of a child. We want to leverage that influence by equiping parents and partnering with them in the spiritual formation of their children. We do this by providing:
- Fridge Door Cards each week that provides a summary of the week’s lesson and 2-3 questions to discuss with children.
- God Time cards for each child. God Time cards are cards that encourage children to develop the habit of personal spiritual disciplines. They are written differently for each age grop. Parents serve as guides helping their children develop the habit of spending time with God on a regular basis throughout the week. Childre receive these at the beginning of each new virtue.
- Family Cue boxes may be purchased by each family. The Family Cue Box is a resource for families that include 1) an interactive web site; 2) weekly devotional ideas called virtue packs. These can be purchased online HERE or through Chad Nall, the youth and family minister. To learn more about Family Cue Boxes click HERE.
House Church Children’s Bible Lessons
In order to utilize the 252 Basics curriculum and encourage the spiritual growth of children, House Churches are provided with lesson ideas for children in grades K-5 that reinforce what children learn in the home and on Sunday mornings. Below is a link to each lesson for House Church leaders to download and use.

Summer on the Rock

Summer on the Rock is our Sunday morning children’s program from June-August. Children entering grades kindergarten through 6th grade meet together for worship, Bible teaching and small group lessons and activities from 9-9:45 AM. Children are taught Christian virtues and parents are provided resources to enrich what children are learning.
